Illdisposed
Undisputed masters of Death Metal some years ago, the Danish Illdisposed are back with a new album, the second from band's reforming, and a new direction that moves them pretty far behind the "Submit" era, when the band was making waves among fans of extreme Metal with cavernous voices! As the band was a great reference name for the area of extreme Metal they were a part of, I decided to find out more details about the recently released studio performance which was launched by Massacre Records from Germany and this is what came out!

Arcana Noctis: Hi everyone! First of all congratulations for this new studio performance and for the 20 years career that you will celebrate later this year! What will be the latest news from your camp right now and what can you tell us about the feedback that you received for the new full length?

Illdisposed:
Thank you. We just finished a tour in Denmark and Norway to promote the new album. In one week we'll tour Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia. So it's a busy spring for us. I think the new album is doing well, the feedback is way better than the last album.

Arcana Noctis: How do you feel thinking that your are in this business since the last two decades and how do you see the new album compared to the first realization of your gang "Four Depressive Seasons"? I do not want a technical comparison between the two albums, just a fact of things on an emotional level between the two albums if you know what I mean!

Illdisposed:
It's weird. 20 years is a long time. Time really flies. I think the biggest difference is that on "Four Depressive Seasons" the band had something to prove. It had to be the most brutal and uncompromising music to come out of Denmark. Today we don't have anything to prove anymore; we just want to write good songs and have a good time with it.

Arcana Noctis: The new album was officially launched on April 1st this year via Massacre Records! Although it isn't more than a month since its appearance on the Metal market, what can you say about the reaction of the listeners and specialised media concerning "There Is Light (But It's Not For Me)"?

Illdisposed:
It's an album that splits the waters. Either people hate it because of the electronics we used or they love it for the same reason. We knew that when we made the album. Sometimes you got to risk something you know.

Arcana Noctis: I just asked you about the latest news from Illdisposed camp, and I do not want to get over your recent participation at the Norway's Inferno Festival! So what can you tell us about people's reaction on "There Is Light (But It's Not For Me)" in live and what conclusions do you have in the end?

Illdisposed:
It's usually weird to play new songs live because people prefer to hear the songs they know. But this time it has been great, some nights we were playing 6 new songs and it was cool. I think the new songs work very well live. Inferno Festival was great; it was the first time we played there. I definitely hope we can come back there again. But the alcohol prices... wow!

Arcana Noctis: As we remember about this show, I know that you just started a European tour with 21 dates in 5 countries! What exactly do you expect from these live rituals and what will be the playlist knowing that many metalheads still are in love with your old releases?

Illdisposed:
We will play a lot of venues we've played before so we just expect good parties there. We'll make a mixed set with a good balance between old and new stuff. Actually we feel that people are more into the newer stuff when we play outside Denmark.

Arcana Noctis: Returning to the new release, we all know that it came directly on the 78 position in the Danish charts, being the fifth product of yours that enjoys such an honour! Is it important for you to have such feedback from the charts around the world?

Illdisposed:
Both, yes and no. It shows that some people are still buying our album instead of downloading it illegally. But it's just a number and after a few weeks it's forgotten again.

Arcana Noctis: The new album comes 2 years after the release of "To Those Who Walk Behind Us", a product that has benefited by the contribution of Tue Madsen and his Antfarm Studio, but an opus that seems to be much closer to your "1-800 Vindication" or "Burn Me Wicked" albums! Leaving aside the fact that many fans were not at all impressed by the last two albums; with what kind of assumptions you started working on the new album?

Illdisposed:
We could feel that people didn't like the last album that much, but "The Prestige" went very well. In my opinion "1-800 Vindication" is the best album we ever made so I wanted to go in that direction again without making the exact same thing.

Arcana Noctis: As I pointed out previously, the new album totally removes the last two achievements of the band, but we can also observe a musical shift towards a Thrash/Doom aggressive yet melodic, combined with exceptionally dark, Gothic and Industrial elements highlighted by a background symphonic and a throaty voice artificially filtered! Obviously that this is a step forward in band musical universe; but, don't you miss the old good times from "Submit" era when Death Metal was more than a fashion?

Illdisposed:
If you remove the synthesizer tracks this is the most Death Metal album we've done since "Kokaiinum". But I think we've done enough of the pure Death Metal, we've released so many albums I even stopped counting them. Now we just want to create something we like, something that makes us feel good. The average age in the band is 37 or something; we're not that much into pure Death anymore. (Wawwwwwwwww!!! You're not into death metal no more?! And that because you're 37 or something like that?! Man, I'm 5 years younger than you but Death Metal was, still is and will be on the first rank in my heart! Dixit!!! - Litocranius)

Arcana Noctis: I also would like to ask you to do us a brief overview of the new material, and if you do not mind an introduction to each piece of the latter product signed Illdisposed! Also, it would be interesting to know your point of view on this last full length and to know what its place in gang discography would be!

Illdisposed:
That would be writing a book, I'm too busy for that at the moment – sorry!

Arcana Noctis: Besides all the technical details and those concerning the musical content, I would finally like to recall a high and value production, but the maintaining of that groove atmosphere that made you famous all this years too! Should we consider that what we have in front of us is the sum of your entire career?

Illdisposed:
Yeah you can say that. There's a little bit of everything on the album. But it's wrapped up in a nice production so you have to know us well to hear it.

Arcana Noctis: Regarding the cover artwork I want to emphasize that out of respect for your designer you decided to change the band logo, the latter being revised so that the visual impact to be more powerful! I want to know how it came to this idea and that would be the connection between the music content and image that has been decorated with it this product!?

Illdisposed:
We just gave Lasse Hoile the album title and some of the new songs and then he created it all from that. We gave him total freedom to do whatever he felt like. Changing the logo isn't something we care about at all. We still use the old logo – and it's just a logo. It has nothing to do with the music.

Arcana Noctis: In the end, it would be interesting to know what future plans you have and what would be the next step in the live activity excepting the recently started European tour?

Illdisposed:
The plan is to go on touring Europe in October. We'll move to the areas we missed in May. That's the only play for now, but 2011 is a busy year for us with an album release and 3 tours. It's enough. We're old men.

Arcana Noctis: That would be all for now my friend! Thanks so much for your kindness and interest in our work! If you have something to add in the end feel free and use this space properly! Thank you one more time!

Illdisposed:
Thank you for the interview. See you out there, cheers!
